Thompson Island Information Center, Acadia National Park

An Acadia National Park Ranger is usually on staff here during normal operating hours to answer any questions. Park passes may be purchased here as well. Due to funding cutbacks, this location is also used by the local chambers of commerce to give out information about their municipalities. There is a much larger facility further ahead with more items for purchase at the main Visitor Center at Hulls Cove. There are public restrooms available at both locations.

Thompson Island Picnic Area

On the other side of the road from this Thompson Island location is a nice little day picnic area, right on the coast, with a good size grassy area for playing games. It is open from 6:00 AM until dark. (Hours may be changed by National Park Service without notice so before planning special functions, please verify with Park Headquarters.) Bathroom facilities are available here as well. (see panoramic)

For information during the winter months, visit the Park Headquarters on Highway 233 near Eagle Lake, just 3 miles west of Bar Harbor.
