Like the furniture of 250 years ago, Kevin O'Connell makes his chairs and tables by hand in his small country shop, using the same tools as yesteryear. Each piece of fine furniture is crafted using spoke shaves, drawknives and hand planes. Spindles and bows are split from red oak, then whittled and shaved to size for each chair. Seats are deeply carved and shaped from 2" thick white pine. Maple is used for the legs.

Like the chairs of old, Kevin paints the three types of wood using milk paint and dyes in order to bring a unity of appearance. This replicates the look of an antique and is easier to live with.
