Beauty of Southwest Harbor

Greg A. Hartford, photographer, author, publisherThe most dramatic geographical feature surrounding Southwest Harbor from a photographer’s perspective is the harbor itself. It is large, open, gorgeous, and usually filled with many yachts and other sailing vessels, not to mention lobster boats. The harbor also has open arms that reach out into a spectacular view of the entrance to Somes Sound, the islands to the south of Mount Desert Island, the Bear Island Lighthouse, and the majestic Cadillac Mountain. But more than this, Southwest Harbor is like the hub of a variety of other places like Echo Lake Beach, Seawall, Wonderland Trail, Bass Harbor, and Pretty Marsh Picnic Area.
