From Cabins to Mansions

Greg A. Hartford, photographer, author, publisherFor the convenience and privacy, renting a cabin or cottage is the way to go. It can feel like a home away from home but in a setting that is made of dreams. The range of properties that are available is huge as you will soon discover after reviewing this list. Many businesses have several rentals, not just one. Some are year-round, most are weekly, a few are available on a nightly basis but usually it will be a minimum 3-day stay. Make sure to plan on Maine State Sales tax which as of this writing is 8%. Also, plan on a deposit. Arrangements can vary. If you are looking for a deal, check some of the surrounding villages. Also, ask if there have been any cancellations that they need to fill. Some owners want to have a conversation with you. Many of these rental properties are the owner’s actual home that they rent out just during the summer months. They want to be very sure the visitors will be the right ones who will care for the property as if it was their own.
