Turtle Island
Turtle Island is located south of Grindstone
Neck and west of Schoodic Peninsula in Maine. The island is mostly
covered with a 150 year old spruce/fir forest and supports a seasonal
settlement of great blue herons. Interior sections are closed during
nesting season. The National Park Service holds an easement to all
100 acres of Turtle Island in order to permanently protect its natural
state and scenic value to the public.
