Prospect Harbor Light
Prospect Harbor Light, or Prospect Harbor Point
Light, can be seen here as viewed from the shoreside on Route 186 in Prospect
Harbor, Maine. The land that the light and lighthouse sit on is
part of a U.S. Naval Communications Center and is not open to the public
except for special events. Currently, the lighthouse is being leased
to the American Lighthouse Foundation. (See larger new photo)
Specifications:
The station was established in 1850. The current lighthouse was built
in 1891 and became fully automated in 1951. Constructed of wood,
the tower height is 38 feet with a focal plane height of 42 feet.
The keeper's house was built in 1891, followed by the oil house and
boathouse that were built in 1905.
